The Flood 2008

After torrential rain on Friday 25th January 2008 several areas in Clackmannanshire were left flooded including the Bowling Club. Dave Richards took the photos below on Saturday morning before wading into the clubhouse to see the full extent of the damage.

The greens were totally under water and both clubhouses had at least 8 inches inside. Carpets will have to be replaced and possibly the dance floor. There is no heating and all electrics will require to be checked for damage.

Jan 31st - Meetings have been held with the Insurers Agents and costings are being obtained for the repairs.

The East Clubhouse will require the removal of floors and wall linings and all the subsequent connected works.

The West Clubhouse will not require the same amount of attention to remedy the problems and secretary, Ian Sutherland anticipates that work in this area will be completed prior to an anticipated Opening Day at the start of April (this date will be advised later)

Members are required to remove any personal belongings from within the Clubhouses by Thursday 28th February 2008 to allow remedial work to take place. After this date the committee reserve the right to dispose of all items remaining as it is necessary to give contractors a clear site to work on.
